Mahe, Seychelles: 5 Day Itinerary

Back in October, I visited Seychelles as I got married there. We stayed for a total of 5 days and had our family come and join us for one big wedding/holiday. You can read all about my wedding here. It was the first time I had visited Seychelles so I made sure we had loads planned. We stayed on Mahe which is the main island and we rented a villa in Glacis which is in the North East.

Day 1

To get to Seychelles, we flew Emirates from Dubai and arrived in the morning, but the first day was spent relaxing and settling into our villa. We had 3 separate apartments booked as well as a swimming pool, BBQ facilities and a dining area. The villa was right on the beach and we had the most incredible sea view rooms. It really was the most perfect place to stay.

Day 2

The next day, we rented a car and drove into Victoria. Victoria is the capital of Seychelles and is also known as one of the smallest capital cities in the world. We went to Victoria market (Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market) and bought some souvenirs. We then visited the Victoria Clocktower which is a replica of ‘Little Ben’ in London.

From there, we drove to Seychelles National Botanical Garden which is home to the giant tortoises, fruit bats and Coco De Mer trees. The gardens were beautifully maintained and there were so many pretty spots, but the tortoises was definitely the highlight! You can feed them free of charge and spend as much time with them as you want. Tip – bring insect/mosquito repellent as you will get eaten alive!

In the evening, we went to Beau Vallon beach where we watched the most incredible sunset. We had dinner in a nearby restaurant which served both local and international cuisine. We decided to come back to this beach after the wedding as we wanted to see more of it and spend longer here.

Day 3

The next morning (10 October 2020) was my wedding! We woke up very early and my sister and I walked down to the beach in our pyjamas. We had breakfast on the balcony then spent the rest of the morning getting ready. As I mentioned in my wedding post, we had the best day ever and felt so lucky to have our wedding go ahead during the pandemic! It really was meant to be.

Day 4

After an amazing day celebrating our wedding with our nearest and dearest, the next day we wanted to take it easy and have a beach day. We drove back to Beau Vallon beach and spent the whole day there laying on the sand and swimming. We had beautiful weather and it was so nice to relax after such a whirlwind few days. It felt like a honeymoon (just with all our family there!) – no cares in the world, just pure bliss!

Day 5

The next morning, we went back into Victoria to pick up some last minute souvenirs. The plan was then to go back to Beau Vallon beach as we had such a lovely time there but unfortunately we had pretty bad weather and it rained for most of the day. We decided to come back to our villa and wait for the rain to clear. Luckily it did in the afternoon so we all went back in the swimming pool. Mamdouh and I made everyone a ‘last supper’ as we were leaving that night.

We all flew back to Dubai and our families stayed with us for another week so our holiday didn’t end quite yet! We had the BEST time in Seychelles and now, the island will always have a very special place in my heart as I got married there. Aside from this, there is so much to see and do in the Seychelles – I thought 5 days would be too much but we could have easily stayed longer. The people are so friendly and welcoming, and every corner you turn gets more and more beautiful.

Thanks for reading.
