Finally – Christmas at home! I was absolutely buzzing for this layover, especially after spending Christmas alone last year in Paris. I had specifically requested this flight to London Gatwick which landed in the evening on Christmas Eve so that I could get as much as Christmas day with my family as possible.
The best thing ever was having my Mum, Sister and Nephew picking me up at the hotel and all driving home together for Christmas. This really was the best thing I could have asked for.

We got home and all changed into our matching Christmas pyjamas. We ate pizza and then danced to our favourite Christmas songs. Hadley was SOO excited for Christmas, he could barely sleep. We all camped out in the living room, it was so much fun!

We left a carrot out for the reindeers and a mince pie and some milk for Santa! After Hadley finally got to sleep, we wrapped up the last few presents and then all slept out in the living room.

IT’S CHRISTMASSSSSSSSSSSS! The next morning, we woke up around 7am and a very excited Hadley was keen to get opening presents. We didn’t waste any time and got stuck in as we were very very lucky and had loads between us.

Wow! I was really spoiled!!! I cannot believe how many wonderful gifts I got from my Mum, Cara and Hadley, I felt so lucky! Thank you so much. What an amazing start to the day.
We didn’t really fancy a breakfast, so instead we had some cheese and biscuits which was absolutely perfect. Cara and Mum had bought so much delicious food and snacks, I didn’t really stop eating all day! We then played lots of games whilst the dinner was cooking.

Just in time for the Queen’s Christmas speech at 3pm, our lovely roast dinner was ready. We had giant prawns to start, a three-bird roast dinner followed by a chocolate smash cake – it was pure heaven!!!

It was by far, the best food I’ve eaten in a long time and probably the best Christmas EVER! The only sad part was having to leave around 4:30pm to be back in the hotel for the 6pm pick up.
Cara very kindly dropped me back to the Gatwick hotel where I said my goodbyes. Although I didn’t get to enjoy the rest of the evening with them, (or watch the Gavin and Stacey Christmas episode!), I had the most incredible day and felt so lucky to be at home for Christmas.
The flight back to Dubai was absolutely packed, which I was really surprised at as I didn’t think many people would want to travel on Christmas day, however, it made it go faster and take my mind off of leaving.
Merry Christmas everyone!
